Risk Factors
- Females more than males
- Age: 40 or older, however tendinopathies can occur at any age
- Diabetes
- Heavy lifting
- Activities/Professions that involve repetitive overhead arm motion (athletes in overhead sports, construction workers or hairdressers for example)
- Weakness or imbalance of shoulder muscles
- Glenohumeral instability
- Muscle tightness
- Poor scapula control

Poor posture: may allow pinching of muscle or tendon against bones of shoulder
- Possible genetic component
